For example, if someone is binging on chocolate every day, they might need more intimacy and love in their lives to satisfy them.

People on diets often ignore primary food, the core concept that what feeds us on a much deeper level than food is a satisfying career, loving relationships, a spiritual practice, and regular exercise. Most people think it’s all about food and the specific diet they’re on, but the truth is that food isn’t the most important part.

If you have a job you hate, for example, you’re much more likely to eat nonstop throughout the day to distract yourself and stave off boredom.
